Privacy Policy

HirePrep ("we", "us", or "our") operates the HirePrep web application at www.hireprep.io and the HirePrep Chrome Extension. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using HirePrep you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (via Google Sign-In or email/password through Firebase Authentication).

2.2 Resume Data

You may upload resume files (PDF, DOCX). We store the file and extract the text content to power AI features such as resume review, cover letter generation, and interview tips. Resume text is stored in our database and processed by Google Gemini AI.

2.3 Job Application Data

When you save a job posting (via the web app or Chrome Extension), we store the job URL, company name, job title, description, location, and compensation — scraped from the public job posting page.

2.4 Chrome Extension Data

The HirePrep Chrome Extension:

• Reads the URL of your active browser tab when you click "Save to Application Board" to scrape the job posting.
• Reads your browser's IndexedDB (specifically Firebase's local storage) on HirePrep tabs only, to sync your login session to the extension.
• Does not read, collect, or transmit any data from tabs on non-HirePrep websites unless you explicitly click "Save to Application Board".
• Stores your preferred FAB position in the page's localStorage — this never leaves your browser.

2.5 Usage Data

We may collect anonymised usage metrics (feature usage counts, error logs) to improve the product. We do not sell this data.

• To provide and personalise HirePrep features (resume review, cover letters, interview tips, application tracking).
• To authenticate you and maintain your session securely.
• To generate AI-powered content using your resume and job description via Google Gemini.
• To improve our product through anonymised analytics.
• To communicate important updates about your account or the service.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage.
• Google Gemini AI — resume and job description text is sent to Gemini to generate AI responses. Google's data processing terms apply.
• Vercel — our hosting provider processes requests to run the application.

All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@hireprep.io. Resume files and application data are deleted within 30 days of a deletion request.

We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase's encrypted storage, HTTPS for all data in transit, and Firebase Authentication for identity management. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format).

HirePrep is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of HirePrep after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
